" TAKE A STAMP"

 

 

I recently went to a workshop with Annette Lee and this stamp was part of our kit and I love it. We made a canvass but this is the second card I have made useing it and I cant wait to make more. I think I may zentangle the next one.

Supplies

7x7 card and a piece of black card six and a half inches square and a piece of white card six inches square. Also a piece of A4 card.  Paper Artsy chalk acrylics in Jade,Prawn and Southern Skies. Artiste spray gold shimmer ink. Sentiment was Stampers Anonymous  and the stamp is from the Paper Artsy Eclectica rang. The white dots are gesso.

To make I randomly applied the three colours of paint useing a baby wipe to the A4 card and to the small square piece of white card. when dry I sprayed with the gold. On the A4 I then stamped all the flower parts doing 3 of each of the flower heads which I cut out and layered. I randomly stamped onto the 6x6 piece with the small stamp  then glued on all of my flowers and finished by adding the white gesso to the buds with a ball tool. To complete I layered onto the the black card then the base card. The sentiment was then attached after layering on black card as well.

ANNA FINNIBAIR WORKSHOP

 

 

 

 

 

 

Hello to all you lovely bloggers and followers. Yes its me back again after a very long time away. Can I just say thank you to all of you who visited my blog last year and particularly those who took the time to leave lovely comments. these make it all worth while. Not to dwell too much on things but just a little explanation as to why I went of the radar. Sadness visited my life towards the end of last year. My lovely brother took ill and then died in December. It was particularly hard as he did not live local to me so I couldnt see as much of him as I would have like to. I found it difficult  to focus and hence my absence.

A new year began and slowly I have got my crafting mojo back. It started first of all with a workshop with Annette Lee which I will share with you later but today I am sharing some of my work that I did last weekend at the Anna Finnibair workshop I attended. This is the second one that I have been fortunate enough to attend and believe me she is amazing. Not only a talented lady but such a gorgeous person to. I couldnt begin to start to describe to you how these were made but  I will just say that the top one featured my dear mam. The second one was a fifteen minute challenge we did which was such fun and the picture is just random. The third reatures my beautiful daughter Sally on her wedding day.

SPLODGE AWAY BLOG IS BACK

AUTUMN THEME

Good Morning bloggers and followers. Well today I am pleased to say that thanks to the wonderful Rae Dalal the splodge Away blog is up and running again. The design team are going to share some inspiration with you and the current theme is  Autumn- At the moment we will be useing masks that we have in our stash but hope eventually to share inspiration with new products.

Mr Splodge Away Tom has been very busy latley producing products for other companies and lauching his new Splodge Away Club which may I say is well worth joining as the value is amazing.

Eileen Godwin/SplodgeAway workshop

MY MAKES

 

 

Hi bloggers and followers and friends. Thank you for popping over to have a peep at my makes. Last Friday I was so lucky to be able to attend a workshop with the lovely Eillen Godwin and was arranged by Splodge Away.x Eileen has been a crafty FB friend for some time and also in the past a fellow Teamie. so it was just lovely to meet her at long last. Eileen is well known for her neat classy cards and she didnt dissapoint us. What amazed me is that I have never thought of distress inks as being vibrant well just look at my tree and soldier card !!! Would you believe distress inks. Its all down to how you apply. I am sure that many of you like me get into a rut and need to take a different view on some products. Eileen made me do just this. The last card is not what I associate eileen with but isnt it amazing . The workshoop was all about techniques. Even my masks which being a member of Splodge team for long you would have thought that I would have done everything possible with then but oh no. Eileen again gave us a different perspective on them.

I have been suffering from a really bad dose of the colds coughs etc and have little energy but one very lovely hubby drove me to the Great Northern Papercraft extraveganzer on sunday and I was able to purchase a few of the things I needed and didnt have to make more of the above project. Woo Hoo!!!

Yes I managed to purchase the memory box mask, distress paints and a wonderful mask with three circles cut out ideal for different sized moons. (sorry Tom)

Something About Myself

 

Well I am one of those people who are able to get a free bus pass and regularly make use of it. I have been married now to my long suffering husband Cliff for 46 years ( ye gads) and we have two children Sally and Stephen both with partners. I have been crafting in one way or another since I was a little girl and my Grandmother introduced me to her button jar and we made things together.I can remember sending stuff into Blue Peter when I was young and never won anything but did once get a commendation. lolx I think I must have tried my hand at most thing really but have stuck with paper crafting for many years now asd there is always something new to try.

 

What are you working on at the moment

 

Well my most imporatant project of the moment is my journal which I started at my workshop with Finnibair a couple of weeks ag. she was an inspirational lady and so talented but I dont want to rush it and spoilt it as its so beautiful. Inbetween I am making the useuall family birthday cards and building up my christmas card stash.

 

Why Do You Create what You Do.

 

Simply because I love it. I get great pleasure from the lovely comments from friends and family who recieve my cards and I llove the challenges that creating pieces of work give you useing new products.

 

How does my creative process work.

 

Well there is no rhyme or reason to this one. It could be anything that sparks me off. It could be something as simple as an embellishment and I will go from there and it will grow into a project. thats why I think I am surrounded with such a huge craft stash as I then always usually have something to fit the project. ( Well that my excuse anyway)

 

How Do You Stay Focused/ Motivated.

 

Firstl I very raely do a project that I couldnt complete in one sitting if I wanted to because like Claire I get bored. I always want to see the finished project ASAP.  My motivation comes from lots of sorces. I try to follow as many blogges and craft sites as time will allow as  well as go to as many workshops as the budget will allow.  This gives me tremendous motivation as I am always eager to learn new techniques and try new products  and its great to see other peoples take on things . 

How many of us say. Why didnt I think of that???? lolx Also I look forward to my monthy craft stamper arriving.x

Last Sunday I had the privilge of attending a workshop hosted by the amazing Ania Dabroski know as Finnibair and what an amazing day it was. It was a long day ( 9 till 6.30) but i went home shattered and happy clutching my spell book that we all made. This lady not only taught amazing techniques but kept us entertained with her stories. I can recommened that if you get the opportunity to attend one of her workshops you go. I couldnt begin to tell you all the steps that went into making this but you can go on her blog and she will have it on there at some time. the photos dont do it justice. Can I just also say that the kit she supplied us with was more than generous and I even took some bits home to play with. Hope you like it.

CBN September challenge.

My Inspiration

Good morning crafters and  followers. Well can you believe its September. Where does the time go? Well today sees the start of a new challenge over at The Crafty Bloggers Network. The theme this month is Anything Goes so we should see bumper entries as literally anything goes!!!! the sponsor this month is Rick St Dennis and you have a chance to win some of his digi stamps so why not have a go. The CBN design team did not get any images to work with this month so we just did our own thing ( sorry about the Christmas Theme  but its coming)  but Ricks design team have given us some fabulous inspiration.

This was a very simple make and I think perfect for batch making for xmas. I use a DL card and cut  a piece of gold pearlesant card about half an inch smaller and then a piece of Splodge Away Easy Ink card slighty smaller than that. I then stamped five praying angels along the bottom. I then masked these off and stamped in the naught angel. I always do this first as it isnt the first time I have forgotten her and that is the whole point of the card. lol. I then stamp the other four. I used wink of Stella the paint the wings and halos. I then cut out my Presscut Merry Christmas die and stuck on the top and matted and layed the pieces to finish. As always the wink of Stellas dont show up well in photos but if you enlarge the image you see it better.

Alice In Wonderland

Good morning all and I hope that you have as beautiful morning as we are having here. Well I promised I wouldn't leave it so long before I blogged again an hey ho here we go. This is a canvass that has been I work in progress for ages and suddenly inspiration hit me late last night and so I set to and put the finishing touches to it this morning.x
To make I backed with paper mania paper and the quotes at random which I printed from the internet. They are from Alice in Wonderland. I then painted over with opaque snowflake paint. I then used a Splodge away stencil and rubbed picked raspberry distress ink through. I drew round the joins with a white pen and then sealed with decoArt soft touch varnish. The edges have been done with picked raspberry and stencilled at random with black soot. Next I glued the lace on. The Alice In Wonderland images are from Suzicrafts Fandangle range and made by Splodge away. They were covered in black Gesso and the white spots were made by dipping the end of a small ball tool into white paint and the dotting at random. The flowers were made by glueing together oddments from my stash and then spraying with Dylusions inks in black and bubble gum.. When they were all glued to the canvass I went back in with the Splodge away stencil and black soot and filled in gaps.

Just Some Lines

Summer Fun

 

 

Well hello bloggers and followers. It has taken me a long time but I am eventually back on blogger. I know everytime I blog I try to promise myself that I will blog more often and I never do. I have to say in my defence though that one of the reasons is that I havent had anything to share with you as most of what I have been doing has been DT work that I am not able to show yet. I have however made a couple of cards for people which I am holding in reserve so I have no excuse not to blog at least for the next week. Can I also say that I really do appreciate all of you who take the time to visit and make comments. It is what it makes it all worthwhile.

Today I am sharing with you my DT card for Crafty Bloggers Network. This week sees the start of a new challenge which is being sponsored by Just some lines and you have the chance to win some digi images just for sharing your work with us. The theme is Summer fun and the above card was my piece of inspiration.

To make I made an octagon card from white card and then an octagon frame from lilac pearlised card. ( I have a board that I make these on as no I cant draw octagons)I then made another octagon to fit the centre from Spodge Away easy ink card and transfered the image on. this was coloured with copic pens and wink of Stellas.when dry I dusted with two shades of distress ink and added the buttons and sentiment which is a dylusions one. To complete I use a pearl maker pen to make my little pearls around the edge..

Andy Skinner Worshoop

What A Great Weekend

 

 

 

 

Good day to all you bloggers followers and visitors. Well this evening is getting a bit breezy out there so a perfect time to  sit here and share with you the fantastic experience we all had at an Andy Skinner Workshop I went to and show you one of the projects that we made which I must confess is my favourite, We all had such a fun time as they are all lovely ladies and Andy was amazing. Very relaxed and helpful. Now I could ramble on for ages to tell you how we made this book but I will try to be a brief as possible. Who would believe that it started life as just a little black book.

The change began when we covered it with white Gesso and then used red and yellow acrylic paints over the top just slapping it on at random Next step was stamping the chosen image all over including down the spine ( mine was obviously script.)  After that we highlighted some areas with an interferance paint. Next step was useing stencils to put on the words and owls etc  which when dry was covered with an opaque paint. The final step was to then paint the whole project with a soft touch sealer. An amazing product.

Bye the way all the product that we used were by Deco Art and some were so new that they hadnt yet hit the retailers. Wernt we the lucky ones? I confess to not remembering all the names so please forgive me for not telling you.

The heart was MDF which we covered in a texture paste and then drew the pattern on with the wrong end of a paintbrush. How clever were we! Haha. Each section was then painted first with acrylic paint and then a coat of interferance paint on top. The big holes in the pattern were made with a straw.

The little dots were then put on useing an acrylic paint and a small ball too and the big dots were filled in useing a paint brush. the final step was the crackle glaze the centre heart. Job done. I think the secret to success with this project is the make sure that each step is dry before moving on tho the next one. Oh bye the way nearly forgot the book was edged with black Archivale ink.

To finish of I would just like the thank Andy for a brilliant weekend and shareing his knowledge with us and putting up with us and also a big thank you to Sue tucker of Art Workshops for oraganizing it. she does an amazing job. Of course lets not forget all the lovely friendly crafty who I shared the weekend with. They were all lovely.

Hi followers and bloggers. A very good morning to you all. Hope the sun is shining for you like it is here. Just a quick blog today and I just had to share this card with you. It was one of my purchases whilst visiting my relatives in the south. I have a friend who this is just her and could well be reading this but I am not going to say who as she will be the recipient of this card. to make I cut a 6x6 piece of Splodgeaway Elegance card and dripped 4 different alcoholic inks onto it randomly. when it was dry I dusted it with distress inks and then stamped the raindrop stamp by Ryn onto it. I then filled a lot of the drops with gloggy accents. I stamped out all of the pieces of my Ruby Rainbow  stamp coloured with copics and then highlighted the wings and bits of her hair and wellies with wink of stellas. I also used glossy accents on the brolly. I attached to the card with very thin stcky pads. the wellies are suspended from the brolly with twine so that they "Swing" as the card moves. Hello all you followers and vistors. Thanks for popping by I really do appreciate it. Well after two weeks away visiting all my lovely relatives in Kent Sussex and Wiltshire it was back home to reality and buried under a pile of washing and ironing. After plowing my way through it I thought I had best catch up with my inspiration for the Crafty Bloggers Network who started a new challenge while I was away and just managed to get it done by the skin of my teeth so I hope you like it. I am now laid low with a stinking cold that has sapped all my energy ( the third one since I had my flue jab) and I am real fed up. While I was away I paid a visit to That Craft Place in Eastbourne and met the lovely Lisa who despite being ill spent so much time helping me choose the colours to add to my copic collection. They are taking a bit of getting used to but I will not be beaten. lolx. ( I wonder if I caught it from her) hehe. Well never mind if you are ever in the vicinity why not pop in she has a fantastic selection of stock and has a web shop and facebook page.

CBN mid month inspiration.

Blowing Bubbles

 

 

Hi everyone hope you are all enjoying this lovely weather. Set to change though and thats typical as I am off to Kent and Sussex to visit my relatives and while I am there I might just get  a chance to pop into some of my favourite craft shops namely That Craft Place (Well I know I will definately be going there to add to my copic collection hahax\)The glitterpot and The craft barn if I am lucky as that one is a little out the way though sometimes hubby takes me on my way home. There is a nice little garden centre opposite where you can get a cuppa and scone to set us on our way.

 

Today I am shareing with you my contribution to The Crafty Bloggers Network Challenge mid month inspiration. The sponsor is art by miran and my image is blowing bubbles. I loved this one as as I am still limited to my choice of pens it didnt prove too much of a challenge. The background is some pink lace paper and the black mount was punched around with a Martha Stewart punch. Now in case any of you eagle eyes are saying well the corners lok a bit mibbled can I just say that it was a straight edged punch and not meant to go round corners!!!! I coloured with copic pents and then did the bubbles with pink and grey wink of stellas. I then went over the bubbles with glossy accents. As usual these techniques dont show so well in pics but I was delighted with the result and you can see the sparkle through the accents. to complete I added some flowers from my stash and ribbon made into a bow with a button in the centre. I hope you like.

Sallys Birthday

My Daughters Birthday Card

 

 

Hi All. Can I just welcome my new followers and say thank you and how much I appreciate the fact that you like my work enough to want to follow my blog. I hope I dont dissapoint you. I am not the best of bloggers in that I dont do it often enough but you will find that I do a mix of cards and canvasses and altered art. I have been very fortunate in attending some great workshops lately and have some amazing one to go to yet. Namely an Andy Skinner and Anna Finniabair one. Cant wait to share those with you but they arent until later in the year. The card I would like to share with you today is a one that I made for my daughters birthday last. week. I have recently got rid of my pro markers and am starting to collect Copics. At the moment I dont have a huge range so feel I am struggling a little with my colouring . They are different to work with too as they have the brush nib. Still practice makes perfect so I guess thats a good excuse to do lots of stamping and colouring. lolx. Any ladies out there who use Copic? I wouldnt be offended to recieve some tips.

Splodge Away Workshop

Good afternoon friend, bloggers and visitor. First of all can I just say a great big heartfelt thank you to everyone who visits my blog and especially those who leave a comment. I do appreciate the time you all take and the kindness you show with your lovely comments. I know I dont blog as often as I should so its lovely to see loyal visitors return. I keep promising myself I will be good and do it more ofter but life just seems to get in the way at times.

 

The canvass I am shareing with you today is a one I did a t Suzicrafts at a Splodge Away workshop. I confess that i went purely to help!!!! bur my fingers itched and I just had to get stuck in. lolx. I dont consider myself to have a style really and just love to have a go at anything but this one I thought was pushing it for me. How wrong was I . I just loved doing it. As I really did have to help I couldnt get it all done on the day and brought it home to finish and this is the result. as often is the case in Photos you cant get the true feel from the pic. there is so much dimention to this its untrue. I thought it was a large project and brave of Tom to attempt it in one day be power to the ladies. They did it but had to work really hard.

APRIL CHALLENGE AT CBN

My Inspiration

 

 

Well yesterday was the start of the April challenge over at Crafty bloggers Network. Firstly can I just say a big congratulations to the winners. The entries are all wonderful and it is so hard to choose winners as they are all so gorgeous.

This months challenge is dies and embossing so why not enter on of your makes . The sonsor this month is Rick St Dennis and you have the chance to win some digi images.

For my inspiration this month I embossed a piece of white card with a creative expressions embossing folder and then distressed it with shaded lilac. I then downloaded the digi image into my docrafts programme and sized it to fit a 6x6 card. ( The finished card is a 7x7) I then coloured with pro markers and wink of stellas. My fav product of the moment. Unfortunately you cant see the sparkle on the photo but they really do wink.

I finished off by distressing the edges and mounting onto the embossed card and adding some flowers from my stash. Have to own up at these ones were not made by me. lolx I couldnt resist adding the little ladybird at the end. I have had these embellishment in my stash for so long and cant bear to use them in case I run out. I know we all do it. Stupid isnt it. lol.x Well I must go as I have a spring fayre to do some makes for at the weekend and have very little made so will be burning the midnight oil me thinks.x

Happy sunday to all of my followers and visitors. Hope you have all had as good a weekend as I have. Saturday started it off with a workshop in Sedgield with the lovely Annette Lee. This is a monthly event that I really look forward to. Annette comes up with some gorgeous projects and I have met some lovely crafty buddies there. The first project was done useing mainly Paper Artsy products from there mount board down to there stamps and paints.  Everyone was really quiet during this one as they were concentrating so much. it was really funny as one lady shouted out cannon balls just to see if everyone was awake. My second project was done last month and I very rudely forgot to blog it!!!!!  How could I. It was a canvas made useing all different techniques and again useing some Paper Artsy stamps, inks and stencil. There products are a joy to play with. I hope you like them as much as I enjoyed makeing them. Today turned out to be lovely and sunny and warm ( If a little windy) so I went with hubby to the beach and met my daughter, son in law, niece and her husband and two boys. We had a lovely walk along the promenade to the river and back having chips on the way and finishing it of in Minchellas ice cream parlour. What more could you ask for? Well I am meeting my friend to go to bingo tonight so a nice win would be good. lolx Hope you all had a good weekend  and are keeeping well.

Hi everyone. Well blogging two days in a row!!!!!! I just couldnt wait to share this with you. Today I went to a workshop with the lovely Michelle Webb which was organised by the amazing Sue Tucker of Art Workshops. I have to say that I had the most fantastic time. Michelle demonstrated this lovely canvass which everyone made and the lads and lasses that went just topped the day. It was such fun. A great big thank you to all of them. Well I wont be around tomorrow as its my sons 40th birthday as well as mothers day so we are meeting for lunch and then going on to visit my daughters mother in law to say happy Mothers Day to her. Hope you all enjoy the rest of the weekend.

Well ladies just a quick blog as I am really pushed for time. Tomorrow I have a workshop with Michelle Webb and cant wait to meet with crafty pals old and new. I know I should blog more often but I really havent had much to share with you as what I have been doing cant be posted yet but today I can across a post for Hels 300th Sunday Challenge blog and just had to join in. You should see the candy to be won. Believe me if you have time to make something in the theme then its worth joining in and Hels blog is always an inspiration. I havent time on this post to go through how I achieved the makeover as I am pushed for time but if you would like me too I will post it after the weekend. All I will say is there was papers, stamping, inking, treasure gold and very mucky paws. The flowers took the longest as there were fuve and all were stamped cut and coloured. Hope you all have a lovely weekend.
